Immersive Display Solutions is a services oriented company that is focused on the design and installation of customer-specified, curved screen display solutions. IDSI offers a full range of design and engineering services that span the spectrum from customer requirements, analysis and concept development out to integration, installation and acceptance-based verification testing. The IDSI team is continually building on their internal suite of tools and measurement instruments needed to design, integrate, and validate the combination of complexities associated with single- and multi-channel wide-field-of-view curved-screen visual display solutions.
Every IDSI project starts with the customer and their unique set of requirements. Utilizing our significant breadth of curved-display design and integration experience combined with a broad suite of computer design and analysis tools specifically brought together to enable short, customer-in-the-loop iterative design development, IDSI can help customers with specifications of nearly any complexity co nverge on a solution that fits the best balance between their requirements and their budget. Depending on requirements, IDSI can utilize a large selection of pre-existing off-the-shelf components, or, when needed for a special requirement, IDSI can make available to customers the resources needed to design, test and supply project-specific custom optics, display components and software integration.
Immersive Display Solutions spends a significant amount of time and effort ensuring that each installation will go smoothly once we arrive at the customer site. In order to meet this commitment, IDSI maintains a 1600 square foot demonstration/installation facility at the Kennesaw headquarters, specifically to pre-build each project prior to final delivery on site. Our team pre-installs each hardware and software component of your solution at our facility, verifying physical layout, projector placement and alignment, and image characteristics such as resolution, blend percentage, color differential, and other pertinent data. After completely verifying the installation, assembled parts are dismantled with mounting locations and orientations marked, a best-fit cable harnesses assembled, and all parts labeled. The full solution is then repackaged and made ready for transport to your site.
On site, IDSI’s installation team can provide everything from oversight to complete assembly. Since we have already built and tested your solution during the pre-install phase of the project, our install teams are able to arrive on site with the correct mental and physical tools to quickly and efficiently bring your solution into operational condition. Our install teams have the skill-sets necessary to assemble and finish either our fabric or seamed fiberglass displays on-site, as well as erect the dome and projector support structure, mount and align projectors, and verify warp and edge blend prior to physical project hand-off. In addition, in instances where acceptance testing is required, IDSI will provide the analytical measurement tools and expertise necessary to test, verify and document the as-built geometry and operational characteristics of your display to verify the visual solution meets the project requirements and specifications.
The most significant aspect of the design and integration of immersive solutions is the ordered placement of projected light onto a curved screen. IDSI utilizes a suite of internally-developed modeling, simulation, and analysis tools to provide the capability for quick turn-around of cost estimates and layout options, as well as developing the detailed installation planning and analysis documentation needed once the final requirement has been met by our design. Our layouts typically start with a display and a user-volume situated in view position in order to generate a specific understanding of the shadow-free zone that the layout must support. Detailed models of known projectors and their associated projection characteristics (optic throw distances, brightness, orientation limitations, heat flow) are then used to produce a layout that meets the customer’s resolution requirements. Following installation, IDSI maintains the instrumentation necessary to test and verify geometry, resolution and projection characteristics when customer acceptance testing is a required part of the program system.
Projector Layout DesignIn addition to the design of light-paths and determining display resolution, IDSI is able to match the projector layout positions with appropriate structural projector mountings and truss support structure that is integrated into the overall design goals. Whether the requirement demands a ruggedized projector mounting system or needs to be optimized for overall system portability, an appropriate solution can be developed from the products and capabilities developed by our engineering staff.
Immersive Display Solution’s core expertise is in the integrating of our custom fabricated, curved-screen, fabric, fiberglass or acrylic displays with an appropriate projection layout that is, in turn, supported by best-in-class commercial off-the-shelf components for image generation, data transport, structure and any other systems that are needed to make up an overall solution. Every project starts with the customer requirements and then around these we fit the proper components needed to satisfy that particular program.
Display solutions are rarely, if ever, the procurement of a singular component. Rather, visual displays systems are typically comprised of a set of components and systems including but not limited to projection screen geometry, projection coating, projectors, optics, data transport, graphics processors, simulation applications, cockpits and controls, audio systems, IR or optic tracking, integrated control solutions, structural and mechanical support, architectural and/or facilities integration, cooling, acceptance testing, documentation, installation, project management and customer-provided equipment. At IDSI we have the tools and expertise available to bring all variables of a project together into a cohesive whole, making sure all pieces of the overall program are considered in relationship to each other.
