In 2007, the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) in Mesa, AZ developed the specification for and subsequently built the prototype Joint Terminal Attack Controller Training Rehearsal System (JTAC-TRS), of which IDSI built the display component. Since this time, IDSI has participated in the design and integration of a number of high fidelity JTAC Immersive Systems, ranging in size from 3- up to 5-meters in diameter, and maintaining a large shadow-free area for multiple users along with required equipment such as berms, laser range finders, radios, and binoculars.
As a standard configuration from IDSI, the solutions utilize fabric projection screens, multi-projector Digital Projection DLP projectors, Scalable Display EasyBlendFX for warp and blend and MetaVR’s VRSG software. The deliverable configuration has been customized to each project’s requirements, and the actual configuration (including dome geometry and size, component suppliers, resolution, shadow-free zones, overall footprint, etc) can vary in order to meet the specification.
